Crebot Creo

Crebot Creo is an indoor robotic platform for students, educators and corporate talent development teams to learn and research on various cutting edge and practical aspects of Embedded system design and Robotics. This robot provides a multi-layer platform for researchers to add their hardware, sensors and peripherals; or just simply write applications on the programmable hardware, utilizing onboard sensors and interfaces.

These platforms are modular, starts with very basic capabilities of motion control and sensor data acquisition. Over this platform, additional payloads are being developed with increased complexity and capabilities such as image processing – gesture recognition, 3D mapping, natural interaction, speech recognition, object detection and following.

What is it?

  • An indoor, low cost, reliable robotic platform
  • A robot with basic mobility and advance sensors
  • Programmable, can attach to external accessories and power them up
  • Has 3 modules: Base mobile platform, a program module, and a ATOM based “ROS” module

Base platform

  • Differential wheeled mobility for indoor environment
  • 7 digital and analog sensors inbuilt for cliff/color/obstacle sensing
  • Can take command from external device using RS232 for motion control and sensor data aquisition
  • Provides 5V regulated and 14.4V unregulated supply to external accessory

 

 

Program module

  • Attachable to the base platform, and can interface with the base as well as external accessories
  • ARDUINO bootloader on a programmable ATMega controller with access to ADC, GPIO, and Timers
  • USB and RS232 interface to program and data interface
  • 4 switches and LED for implementing various functionality by programmer
  • Can interface with external accessories through USB and RS232 port
  • Provides 5V regulated and 14.4V unregulated supply to external accessory

ROS module

  • Attachable to the base platform and can interface with the base as well as program module
  • ROS on Intel ATOM motherboard (OpenCV, OpenNI, OpenKinect integrated)
  • Interfaced to a Microsoft Kinect sensor
  • Can interface with external accessories through USB, RS232 and Ethernet ports
